Face Down était sur scène lorsque je suis rentré dans l'Astoria 2 à Londres, et ils étaient plutôt sacrément bons. Du fait qu'ils passaient en première partie de Napalm Death, le mosh était déjà intense. Je me suis pris un verre et j'ai regardé. Un groupe qui mérite d'être écouté, d'après moi.

Ensuite, une bande de gros types nommés Crowbar arriva. Ils étaient assez heavy, mais pas autant que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Je suis allé dans le mosh uniquement pour me recevoir quelqu'un sur la tête, ce qui a eu pour conséquence, pendant tout le reste du week-end, une incapacité à regarder à gauche sans douleur. Crowbar était certainement un groupe intéressant en concert, rien de plus.

Par chance, je me suis heurté au chanteur d'At The Gates qui était dans le salle. Nous avons discuté un peu, puis s'est excusé de partir car il devait entrer sur scène quelques minutes plus tard. Il suffit juste de dire que beaucoup de gens auraient pu rentrer chez eux après At The Gates, étant donné qu'ils étaient sacrément rapides, sacrément heavy et sacrément bons. Je vous les recommande chaleureusement.

Napalm Death, cependant, était au top de sa forme. D'une lourdeur affolante, et dans une petite salle. Le mosh était sauvage - sauf pour quiconque ayant un tempérament nerveux - et je ne m'en suis pas approché. Ils ont joué pendant pas mal de temps, et ils semblaient s'éloigner de leurs morceaux de 7 ou 8 secondes de long. En guise de rappel, ils jouèrent "Nazi punks fuck off" des Dead Kennedys - boostée à la sauce Napalm. Un bon groupe de death, bien qu'un peu décousu et agité - Mais attention : pas pour ceux qui aiment entendre la batterie !

Face Down were on when I got into the London Astoria 2, and they were pretty damn good. Being that they were the support act for Napalm Death, the mosh was already pretty intense. I got a drink and watched. A band well worth listening to, methinks.

Next, some bunch of fat blokes called Crowbar came on. They were quite heavy, but not quite what I'd expected. I got in the mosh only to have someone land on my head, which caused me to spend the rest of the week not being able to look to the left without being in some degree of pain. Crowbar were certainly an interesting live act, if nothing else.

I was fortunate enough to run into the singer of At The Gates on the floor of LA2. We had a bit of a chat, and then he excused himself of the grounds that he had to be on stage quite soon. Suffice to say, a lot of people would have been quite happy going home after At The Gates, being that they were fucking fast, and fucking heavy, and fucking good. I highly reccomend them.

Napalm Death, though, were in top form. Mind blowingly loud, and in a small venue. The mosh was savage - not for anyone with a nervous temprament - and I didn't go near it. They played for a good long time, and they seemed to steer away from their 7 or 8 second long tracks. For an encore they performed "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" by the Dead Kennedys - Napalm style. A fine death band, if a little disjointed and hectic. But beware - not for people who like their eardrums!
